Clothing
The dress in Australia is mainly informal. Light weight clothes for summer and spring, sweaters, topcoats and umbrellas for winter. Pack plenty of sunblock and a wide brimmed hat if travelling through spring and summer (Sept - Feb).
Entry Formalities
You will need a valid passport for entry into Australia. Most visitors also require a visa. Contact your nearest Australian Government representative to ascertain your particular requirements and procedures to follow.
Language
English is the official language of Australia, however interpreting services are readily available. Australia is a multi cultural destination and food styles from most foreign countries are represented in the many restaurants and Cafe's in Adelaide.
Time zones
There are three time zones in Australia. Eastern Standard Time (New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and Victoria; Central Standard Time (South Australia and Northern Territory and Western Standard Time (Western Australia) Adelaide is + 9.5 hours to GMT.

    South Australian Industries feature,
    A highly successful food industry. The State is home to the Australian wine industry, the base for the country's largest producer of quality lamb meat, has a burgeoning fishing and aquaculture industry and is the source of fresh juices and sparkling mineral waters used in the manufacture of high quality beverages. Wine, meat and seafood, dairy products, fruit and vegetables, and confectionery comprise the bulk of exported processed foods.
    South Australia is the wine-making capital of Australia, producing about 50% of Australian wines and 65% of national wine exports.
    The waters off Southern Australia are among the cleanest in the world and South Australia's rapidly growing aquaculture industry has made the State the fish-farming centre of Australia.
    Natural beauty, a temperature climate and a thriving arts and cultural community combine to support the State's $1.8 billion tourism industry.
    Adelaide's Festival Centre is recognised for its expertise in production, management, set design and construction for the theatre, film, advertising and display industries.
    Long established reputation for excellence in electronics and defence related manufacture which accounts for a third of the nation's defence project spending.
